How do i call an American land line from my mobile in England?

i am trying to phone an american landline from my mobile do i have to put and thing in like to call a mobile that is in britan when i am in spain i have to put in +44

yes you must dial 011then the area code and number for a total of 13  digits

Either key in +1 or 001 followed by the area code then the rest of the number.

It is also worthwhile to go to the bank to see if they can give you a mortgage to help pay for the call afterwards!

If you can, try using Skype or similar as it is a lot cheaper.

You dial either +1 or 00 1 then the 10-digit American number.

For example, 212-555-1212 (which you may also see written down as 1-212-555-1212) is dialled as [phone] from a mobile.  

Or you could instead dial 00 1 212 555 1212, which would also work from a UK landline.
