How do i capture films from my Canon MiniDV videocamera without having to wait through out the whole thing?

can i capture the videos in fast forward?

im using sony vegas btw.

  1. Transfer of DV or HDV from miniDV tape is done in realtime.

    I press import and go do something else.


  2. no way dude... it takes it in frame by frame.. absolutely no way to import any faster.. sorry bro...

  3. Capturing video transmits a huge amount of data. Think of it as downloading 30 pictures for every second of video.

    It's not possible to capture in fast forward. FF doesn't play all frames - it's just a way to move quickly through the tape.

    You'll have to wait while it captures, or pay a dub vendor to do it for you.

  4. There is no faster way to do that, it's capturing in real time, so you just have to wait it out until it's done...get more video tips from my guide...

  5. the only thing you can do faster than real time is import files from other sources such as flash memory, HDD or SxS array memory.

    maybe buy a second cheaper camera (of the same specs and type of the original camera) and just use it as your transport mechanism. it'll save the heads on your primary camera and increase your work flow speed.
