  1. water & fertilizer. take a clipping to the nursery next time you go, they can advise if it's chlorotic as well as any other problem and how to correct it.

  2. Never water during the day.

It is sunny and it will cause the hedges to burn and turn yellow.

I suggest watering the hedges around 7-9 PM. It is the best time to water plants and such.

Also, getting fertilizer would help, but not needed.

  3. well it matters on what kind of hedges but you need to water them and maybe add some fertilizer

  4. The most common cause of hedge leaves to turn yellowish is a lack of iron in the soil. Either give them some iron or give them some fertilizer (I prefer Osmocote) and see if that doesnt fix it within a couple of weeks.

Other than that you may have insects (such as lace bugs) dining on the leaves. In that case spray heavily with maliathion.

Leaves will also turn yellow (look burnt) if they were trimmed with a dull electric pruner. It shreds the leaf edges and they dry out and look like they are dying.

If its not that it could be the water situation you mentioned. If they are newly planted lack of water will do them in. Without knowing what type of hedge it is or whether they are new or established plants, its hard to give a firm answer without more details.

  5. try new fertilizer give the plant hose water

  6. water them and give them some supplements

  7. water it.

  8. It's always best to identify the hedge and your location so it's hard from your question to make a proper diagnosis.  All leaves eventually turn yellow; it's the timing of the yellow we should be alert to.

Some hedges will naturally have yellow leaves (euonymus), but there are other factors as well.

Iron chlorosis is an iron deficiency and shows in the yellowing of new leaves.  If the leaves on your hedge have new leaves with yellow in them, but the veins are still greenish, this is a good indicator of an iron deficiency and is best treated with chelated iron.  Contact your County Extension office (check your phone book under county government) for more detailed information related to your location and the species of your hedge.

Underwatering or even overwatering can cause yellowing of the leaves but I suspect it's a nutrient deficiency.  Plants need at least 18 nutrients (carbon dioxide, oxygen, hydrogen are givens, but there's also nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium (potash).  Others include calcium, magnesium, iron, boron in smaller amounts.

Fertilize your plant with a compound ideal for your hedge. You should see results in a few weeks as the best fertilizers are slow-release fertilizers.

  9. Water them on regular intervals.
