  1. Only water it when the soil gets dry.  Lavender are very sensitive to moisture, and too much can kill them.  Keeping the soil moist all the time is very bad.  I can't give you specifics because how fast the soil dries out depends on how hot or humid it is where you are, but a good rule of thumb is:  Drench the soil, and then don't water it at all until the soil is dry to the touch (but before the plant starts to look wilty).  Also, make sure the plant has good drainage; does the pot it's currently planted in have drainage holes?  If not, make sure to repot it.  Also make sure it isn't root bound (the roots trying to outgrow the pot).  Lavenders like fairly sandy soil.  Also make sure that, after watering it, you don't leave water sitting in the saucer underneath it.  Make sure it gets lots of sunlight, too; if it's warm where you live, you might want to consider putting it outside some days so that it can get lots of light (just avoid direct midday sunlight, which may be too hot and wither the plant if it is used to being inside.  If you decide to leave the pot outside, make sure to gradually let the plant get used to being in the hot sun outside).
