How do i catch Moltres???

Question

this is GBA pokemon fire red. i have found moltres and i have to save in front of it so if i kill it or dont catch it i can turn it off and try again. i dont want to use my master ball so can somebody pleeeaassee help!

Master ball is best saved for Mewtwo, but it is the easiest way to catch one of the legendary birds. I find that a lot of it is luck, sometimes you get them to a shred and fully disabled and they manage out of the ultra ball just before they die from poison/burn/leech seed. If you can do it, freezing can be incredibly effective at catching pokemon, except that Moltres might have a move out of it (I know on Gold/Silver Moltres could learn a move to escape ice). That being said, your best bet is probably a paralyze/leech seed/weaken combo; first paralyze Moltres (should probably try Glare from Arbok or a similar type move, unless your grass pokemon is incredibly strong you don't want to try to use it's paralysis attack, Stunspore). After it's paralyzed, switch out to a grass pokemon, one that hopefully can survive one hit, because you'll get hit after you switch out unless Moltres is fully paralyzed for the turn. Try to hit it with Leech Seed, this will not only make it easier for the ball to actually collapse around the pokemon (more a problem with Mewtwo then legendary birds, but still) rather than having the pokemon evade it, it will also slowly drain HP from Moltres. The third step is simple, just weaken Moltres with whatever pokemon you have, hopefully weaker ones or weak attacks so they don't take too much life.

An alternate strategy would be to paralyze and then use Scyther or another pokemon with False Swipe; a move that cannot take the last HP a pokemon has; or a similar technique such as using Rattata/Raticate's Super Fang, a move that always takes exactly half the HP. Note; reducing to very little or 1 HP won't combine with leech seed/burn/poison as the pokemon will instantly die.

Throwing balls is another matter. If you have special balls such as the timer ball (better chance of catching the longer the battle goes on) go for that, or similar special balls that will apply to Moltres, such as a strong pokemon catching ball, a fire catching ball, a bird catching ball, or summat (I'm not positive which special balls are included in fire red).

Most of all, as with catching any legendary pokemon, the key is patience; it might take you 4 or 5 (or more) tries, but using these strategies you should be able to capture Moltres with an ultra ball. If doing these allows Moltres to KO too many of your pokemon, come back when they've all gained a few levels. I hope that's been helpful.

thats wierd he is the easiest i always never once not caught with my first ultra ball honestly but id use paralyze it works better than sleep and weak hope this helps

Uhh okay. Weaken it to like 1 hp and also sleep it. After, throw pokeballs at it

first weaken it alot but dont kill it paralyze it or put it to sleeep and then use an ultra ball or great ball or a pokeball

chip its lives down to one then make it asleep and then do  this glitch with a pokeball hold the A and B button when its flies out if its touches the pokemon then hold the B and Select button and it will become a masterball its looks not like a masterball but you spend 100% of your

time but pokemon can break outta it but dont worry

Blast him away to 1hp then make him have a status problem i highly don't recommend burn or paralyze use a ultra ball and after a few tries you should catch it don't worry if you don't catch it for ages it always happens to me! Hope I could Help You! :)
