  1. Lay out hampster food, cheese, and things he/she often has/can/will chew on. Leave the house often but not for too long. If your not there, or he/she doesn't THINK you're there, he/she will come out very soon.

  2. This is one major problem with hamsters. They are great escape artists and I am yet to see a hamster who has not escaped even once in its lifetime!

The best thing to do is open his cage and place it on the floor with the entrance near the floor so that the hamster can enter it easily. Put his favourite treats in it like cheese, rice krispies or sunflower seeds. They will easily find their way back by sense of smell of their favourite food. Stay guard over the cage in a quiet dark corner without any movements during night time and you will definitely see him visit his cage.

Also, try looking for him around possible food sources, such as dog or cat food if you have other pets. Keep an eye out for his droppings to show you where he's been.

It is very likely you will find him perfectly healthy stashed away in a quiet little space.

Considering that you have top open cages, you can give this also a try -

Take out some of the bedding of the hamster from the cage and pieces of its p**p and spread it in a tray on the floor.

Spread some of his favourite treats and hamster food on the bedding. Some treats can include sunflower seeds, cheese rice krispies or corn flakes.

The hamster would definitely come back since the scent of its bedding & p**p is too strong for him to resist.

Stand guard near the place especially at night and catch him when he is busy chomping on his treats. You might have to sacrifice a night's sleep for this but it would be worth it when you get your pet back.

  3. you should buy a humane trap this does not harm the animal at all set the humane trapand put foods of all sorts and when the hamster goes in the trap the trap closes and the hamster will not be harmed but trapped in an aired caged ready to be put back in its cage

  4. Close all the windows and doors and put some hamster food and some vegetables on the floor. Be always on the look out when you walk, as you might not see your hamster and could hurt it. If the hamster is hungry, surely it will come out for the food. Also you can place it's cage (open) on the floor; usually if the hamster sees the cage, the hamster will go in it. Or else you may opt for the hamster bucket system. Place a bucket with a stand for the hamster to climb into – and place some hamster food and vegetables in the bucket. When the hamster reaches the top, he will go smell the food, fall into the bucket and will be unable to climb up again. The only problem is that the hamster could get injured when it falls into the bucket, so pile up lots of soft bedding for a soft landing.
