How do i change my first and middle name?

ive been going by a different first and middle name for the past 4 1/2 years, now im at a government facility and its confusing to go by my acctual name but they say they must call me by my "legal" name. im a minor so its difficult and on top of that all the files i find about it are about changing your last name for marraige and stuff. what do i do?

  1. First off you have to get a court order to change your name...being a minor your parents would have to go to court and ask for it...unless you could get to the judge yourself.


  2. Just wait until you are an adult and change it then.  

  3. Since you are a minor, you wont be able to legally change your name unless your parent's concent to it.

    To legally change your name tho, I think your first step would be the social security office.  You may have to give an explanation on the name change, as well as proove that you are not trying to change your name to hide from creditors, convictions, etc.

  4. You would have to get your parents to do that, since you're a minor.
