  3. Apple themselves have a battery replacement program. You send the iPod back to Apple, they change the battery and send it back to you. It costs $59 (plus shipping). Apple estimates between one and three weeks for the service.

    There also a number of third-party companies that sell iPod replacement battery kits. These come, of course, with a battery, and often with a kit to help open the battery. One warning, though, if your iPod is still under warranty, you will void your warranty should you open the iPod. So, if you've bought your iPod within the last year, you should send it to Apple for the replacement in order to protect your warranty.
