  1. go to control panel

    click apperance and themes

    change computer themes

    click on windows xp

    this might work if not,

    the other way is complicated

  2. its hard to explain.=]

  3. you can go through programs and choose exactly what you want to pin on your start menu. just right click whatever program and there will be an option to "pin to start menu"

also if you right click that actual start menu button and go to properties you can change it back to the setting you had where it will put up your most recently used programs

  4. You can use System Restore.  System Restore restores your computer to an earlier time without losing any files.  Start>All Programs>Accessories>System tools> System Restore.  I do this all the time when I accidentally change or delete something.  Restore your computer to a time that the start menu looked normal.  Hope this helps.

  5. You know how you have a start button right? Just Right-Click on it and go to Properties. From there, you can customize it all you like.

  6. Good golly, you called Toshiba and they did tell you to go to the control panel, to administrative tools to the event viewer?  Go to applications and see what the errors are that are causing your computer to shut down.

Google administrative tools and learn all about how to use it properly.
