  1. usually you can check your timing belt yourself..pretty simple, if it looks torn or worn down(or if you cant find it, take it to a pro to look at it) and if it needs replacement have it done.

timing belts are one thing that you don'tt want to go bad, if it snaps, most likely the engine will completely go (no tolerance engine, which i know honda has who makes Acura).

to replace it would be between $400-$500, but is definately  worth it if you want a working car.

  2. from what i've been told about timing belts there isn't usually a very good way to 'check' as they are difficult to get to; the most you can do is check the owner's manual (and if you don't have one, get one) and see when the owner's manual says to replace it; that is your best bet.  for price, just call a honda/acura repairman and ask them.

  3. Peek in one of the inspection covers,If there are cracks or missing teeth on the belt, then its time.If you know what your doing and have the right tools, cost of parts. If you haven't a clue.4 to 500.00

  4. There is an inspection plug on the plastic cover on top front, if you don't know when it was changed last and you want to look, it just prys out with a screwdriver, and just push it back in.

  5. It should be replaced every 90,000 miles. I would say it would cost around $500 give or take depending on the labor rate in your area
