How do i check my landline phone messages during a power outage?

i need to know how to do it step by step. i think i have AT&T

There should be a number that you have to dial into, it should be in your local phone book, land lines are all self powered so considering you have a corded phone and not a cordless, your phone should still work. If you have to call in from a cell phone youll just dial your own number and then there should be a button squence that you need to push which is likely just the # button and then it should prompt you for your password. I am assuming you have your phone companies voicemail and not an answereing machine, if you have an answering macine youre just out of luck until the power comes back on and hopefully you have batteries in it otherwise you will likely lose all messages. If the phone is not a cordless phone then you do it the same way you would normally.
