Find out your section 8 number on the waiting list.  Approximately 1,000 section 8's per county are given per year.in my area.  So, just divide your number by 1,000 or how many section 8's are given per year in your county to see how many years you have left.  In my area, it can be over a decade to get section 8.

You have to call them up and ask.  Leave a message if you can't get anyone (they gets lots of these calls and are not so fast in returning them), but the only way to check is by calling the office where you applied.

You will need to contact the office to which you applied for vouchers.  They may or may not be able to provide you with an adequate response, since most areas have lengthy waiting lists to obtain Sec 8 vouchers.  If you applied recently, get ready for a LONG wait.
