How do i check status on my Merchant Mariners Document?

I applied for my merchant mariners document and they said i would recieve it in 6 weeks. its been 6 weeks now and im still waiting... does anyone know how i can check the status on this

You need to visit the USCG National Maritime Center web site and supply the applicant number and your personal info.

What Captain Bill said (usually the case!), with the caveat that your local REC may not have provided you with the correct information to access the info from their website. In which case just use the second-tier login,which will ask for your name, date of birth and last-four of your SSN. They usually get back to me via email within 1 or 2 working days.

Right now the transition from the old regional MSO/RECs to the National Maritime Center in West Virginia is proving a bit bumpy. I'll admit that I'm not thrilled to have all of my license work happening in a landlocked state 3000 miles away with a 28% adult-literacy rate, but so far it seems like the crew in WV have their act together pretty well, compared to the MSOs. We'll see.
