  1. I am working on growing my business that I started from home. I really enjoy it and my goal is to be a stay at home mom. Of course you are young and want to be able to have fun at this point in your life. This might be what you are looking for. It is all done over the phone and the computer...go check it out!

I think  that this might be worth you checking into. I  just got started and Iam really excited about it! The next step would be for you  to be apart of a webcast to talk about the business. It is really cool!

  2. Begin with your guidance counselor. He/She should have  skills assessments, interests inventory tests, etc. that could help you point towards your interests and experiences. Sometimes they have access to cooperative education services that hire students at reduced hours to give you ideas of how various fields operate.

Volunteering a few places could give you extra insight on what goes on. A few hours a week could benefit you and them.

I got my first job by volunteering at a Disabilities and Special Needs Facility a few hours after school ea day for 3 mos. I was then hired part time and worked there through college.

  3. you could work for purdue chicken, they love chicken..

  4. Begin by looking around for internships or summer positions.  Or you could become a volunteer and try some different things.  Be observant to the work of others.

I don't know where you are located but here in Florida a rewarding career with the state park system just might be the thing for you.  There are many parks that work with preserving and protecting animals and plants for the future, natural resource management.

Other parks are historic sites and may have forts or antebellum homes or ornamental gardens while still having some natural features included.

There is even a wildlife park similar to a zoo.  Where I am we have rare birds and manage the habitat so they can survive.  You can volunteer in a park and see many different jobs/careers.  You could even live in a park if lucky.

There are many benefits to state employment too like pensions, health coverage, & variety in a great rewarding life.

  5. You can start by looking on job boards and typing in "animals" in the keyword box.  That will return results that have something to do with working with animals and you can look through various job titles and descriptions to sort of narrow it down to what career you want to strive for in the future.  There have been times that a job or career sounded interesting to me, but when I actually started reading job descriptions for that position, I realized it wouldn't be a good fit for my interests or personality.  As far as your love of history, if you can narrow it down to exactly what you like about it, you can likely find a position with a history degree.  There are people who work in politics who have such degrees, people who work in research, etc.  In fact, maybe you could work somewhere that does research for animal-related causes, granted they don't research through testing on animals.  Check the websites of some of your favorite animal and rescue foundations and there might be research positions posted there.

  6. First off, you sound like you already know what you DON'T want to do, so at least you've gotten that far.

I'm 24 years old, and my biggest BIGGEST regret is not enrolling in more schooling when I was younger. Take it from me, it's a TOUGH economy out there and with only a diploma to show for yourself, you won't be buying yourself anything worth writing home about.

Take some advice from someone who wishes he was back as a senior. Go to school when you graduate. A tech school, a Community college, or a University if you have the grades/money. Learn as much as you can while you're young, because if you don't- before you know it, you'll be in your twenties, $7000 in debt to credit card companies, driving a piece of c**p car that breaks down alllllllll the time, and wondering why the h**l you can't get a job anywhere. If more schooling isn't up your alley- think about enlisting in the military- NAVY or ARMY- some people make the mistake of thinking it's all guns and bombs and drill instructors, but they offer comprehensive pay packages, bonuses, and career training- hands on- so that when you finish with your training- you can go out and get a REAL high paying job, and have some money to start your life.

Trust me- don't JUMP into bills and the prospect of moving away- until your financially- and mentally- ready to dive in head first.

Good luck- I know I need it.
