How do i chosse right kind of toys for my 2.5year old son?

Buy what he likes - add some blocks - they are a classic and he can build roads and tracks for his cars and trains.

Well first take him or her to a toy store to "play" and see which ones is he or she attracted to. But be carefull of the "noise maker toys" they will get annoying after a while.

I suggest you look for toys that are open ended and stimulate the imagination, like wooden blocks and trains, mega blocks, lincoln logs, playdoh, etc.  Playmobile toys would be good when he reaches the age of 3.

Choose toys that encourage him to use his imagination - the ones you say he likes best are great.  Dolls, stuffed animals, blocks, dress-up clothing, and play food are great options as well.

Amazon has a pretty good selection grouped by age. I provided a link below, the "age ranges" are on the leftmost column.

I recommend educational toys; I had to do a lot of research into them as my nieces were growing up.

Also keep as current as you can on toy recalls. This is usually more of a danger for recently produced toys, but nonetheless, you want to protect your child from such things.
