How do i cite a 5 line quote in a research paper? MLA format?

I have a 5 line quote i know i have to tab it over twice but how do i site it to give the author credit?

  1. In writing legal research papers, you tab over twice (making the paragraph one inch from BOTH sides of text) and do not use quotation marks.  When you're finished with the quote, you put a period.  Then skip to the next line (leaving an extra line between the quote and your reference) and type the reference on the left hand margin in parenthesis.


  2. Tab over twice. Keep the same size font. Don't use quotation marks. Finish your quote, end it with a period, and then put in parentheses the author's name and page number. Example:

                                  And thus i finish this quote. (Smith 29)
