  1. Long time retainer wearer here...trying to answer some of your questions...

    1) So I'm not exactly sure how to use denture cleaner, but my guess is just use it as the instructions say? I remember my ortho told me that soaking your retainer in denture cleaner once or twice week is a good way to keep it clean and stain free...Also, it might have just been me that did this, but I used to soak it in diluted listerine for a few minutes every now and then...(I just found it refreshing, hahaha).

    2) I used to brush my retainer every morning and night. Basically I'd use toothpaste and a toothbrush and just brush it like I do with my teeth. Other than that I'd always give it a good rinse if I had it in my mouth while drinking a sugary drink or eating something...

    3) It's probably ideal to brush your teeth after eating, but it's not realistic. Unless you eat something really sticky and sweet (then in which case I would brush), I would try to rinse my mouth prior to putting my retainer back in.

Oh and extra word of advice. NEVER wrap your retainer in a napkin or place it on some kind of cafeteria tray while eating - I've known people who have accidentally thrown it away.

    Hope that helped!

  2. you should brush your reatiner w/ a toothbrush and toothpaste every day or every other day. the denture cleaner i use only when they get really nasty. you just put hot water in a bowl and put your retainers in it then drop the denture tablets in there. let them sit all day. you can brush your retainers before or after or both. whatever you choose. thats what i do w/ mine. if they get really nasty you can take them to the dentist to be cleaned.

also if you cant brush your teeth before putting them back in, try to at least swish some water around in your mouth first to try and get everything you can off of your teeth.

  3. okay 1 you have to fill the cup etc. where you are going to clean the retainer 2 you drop the cleanser into the water 3 put retainers inand leave during the day or night depends when you where told to use them
