lye watter ( called Caustic lye I think) after hosing it down pour apple cider vinegar on it to neutralizes the alkali. alkaly neutralises acid and vise versa.

it would help to know what you're trying to clean off of it.  Paint? Lichens?  Mold?  Dirt?

We spray ours down once every year or so with a pressure power washer.  The pressure of the water removes pretty much all of the dirt/mildew that starts to grow on it (our concrete is on the north side of our house).
