I have a bronc halter made from cowhide, its white with brown roaning and I need to know how to clean it.

  1. To clean the leather, just use saddle soap. Same with the hide. Remember the cow stands out side. Use saddle soap will be all you need.


  2. All of the leather can be cleaned with leather soap (or a similar product).

    As for the cowhide part... Saddle Soap

    It cleans leather quite well, but any mild soap in warm water will clean your rug quite well. After you wash it, however, you'll need to stretch it out on something to keep it from shrinking like OJ Simpson's gloves did (dumbass lawyers). As it dries, cover it with a good lanolin oil. Major taxidermy suppliers sell a water soluble oil for this purpose, but Jergens or any of the other hand lotions will work as well. Pour it on and rub it in until it starts to puddle. When it does, wipe the puddle free and let it lie hair side down for a few more days before draping it over your knit upholstery.
