  1. If you are saltwater fishing, and getting it wet with saltwater, you need to rinse it off each time you use it, or be prepared to buy new!

  2. WHAT IS IT MADE OF THAT IT HAS CORROSION ON IT. IF IT'S THE PIECE THAT SLIDES INTO THE OTHER THAN GET A PIECE OF EMORY CLOTH AND CLEAN IT AND PUT SOME LUB ON IT LIKE VASELINE IF ITS THE EYES THEN CLEAN THEM OUT AND PUT CLEAR NAIL POLISH ON THEM, ALSO PUT CLEAR NAIL POLISH ON THE TREADING THAT HOLDS THE EYES ON.

  3. Are you talking just the rod?  Or, the reel as well?  First, if it is really badly corroded, your best bet is to take it to a reel repair shop.  Any local tackle store can direct you to one.  If it isn't too bad, some WD40 with a wash cloth.  Not the smooth kind, but one with texture.  Let the WD sit for about an hour and a little elbow grease will take it off
