Question:

How do i clean my flute's key pads?

after playing my flute i noticed these light dark circles on my keys pads.where i had pressed the keys down. which brings us to the question.how do i remove these little circles? or clean the key pads?

  1. The pads will get that way after you use them for awhile but as long as they don't stick and don't leak then they should be fine. The way to clean them is get a dollar bill and slide it under each key pad. Hold down the key and slowly pull the bill out. Don't tear it because that would be a loss and would stink. Haha I did that before with my sax. But yeah, that's the cheapest way to clean the pads. There is pad cleaning paper you can get from a music store if you're weird about using money or even cigarette paper I heard is good for cleaning pads.   2. Take a clean dollar bill and close the key over it. GENTLY slide it out (or you will rip your pads) and keep going until you get all the black dirt off. If that doesn't work, buy pad paper or the slightly cheaper non-rough cigarette paper, which is also effective. If the pads are seriously dirty take them to the repair shop. Always at least have a drink of water before playing, don't drink pop or eat sugary foods before playing. Hope this helps!
