How do i clean the ceiling

my ceiling needs to be re-painted but i want to wash it first. the problem is when i wash it the dirt wont come off it just leaves circular marks that look even worse. what can i use or what chemical would work

Prime with Kilz & paint

use a paint roller and some warm soupy water and make sure that the paint roller is not dripping

Try using sugar soap - I have used this before and it worked for me - maybe it might work for you too.  Good luck!

Use a blocking primer like Kilz that will help keep stains and dirt from bleeding thru.
