How do i clean the top of my long board?

I own a long board and it has a tan top rather than the black ones you see on regular skateboards... so i had this for a while, and my shoes i guess dirtyed the top of the board. Its not THAT bad but i wanted to ask..

Is there a way to clean the top?

Washing up liquid in hot water, and rub with a scrubbing brush. May need to let it sit for 10mins and scrub again. rinse with clean water.
