How do i close off my skimmer on my pool so i can take filter out?

if the skimmer has threads,a threaded plug will seal it....if not,a simple plumber's expandeable rubber plug will do the job...you can get them at a hardware store don't forget the return line too!

Really now, did you read the instruction book ? Of course you could just shut off the pump on the filter.
