I have purchased a new Xplod CD player with bluetooth. I need to connect this without removing my existing tape deck in my car. I have a mounting bay spare in the car.

  1. It can be done, but it's likely to be far more trouble than it's worth.

Only one head unit can be connected to your speakers.  If you try to wire the speakers to both decks, it's the same as wiring the outputs of the decks to each other, then letting them fight it out.  Damage is almost certain.

    Here are your options:

    1.  Use a set of 4PDT relays to wire the speakers so that they're connected to only one head unit at a time.

    2.  Use a line-out converter to turn the cassette player's speaker output into a low-level signal that can be routed to the Sony deck's auxiliary input.  Use the Sony deck as a controller and the factory deck as an external source.

    3.  Install the Sony deck, remove the factory cassette deck, and keep the pocket in the second bay.  Purchase a portable cassette player and link it to the Sony head unit through the auxiliary input jack.

I'd suggest going with option #3.

  2. what kind of car?

If the tape player is seperate (like in old chevy's) it usually feeds into the factory radio and wouldnt be possible. but if your talking about a radio with a tape player you can buy a factory interface, these allow you to splice into your factory wires while keeping all original setups intact.
