How do i connect an xp machine and vista for file sharing?

I have use an ADSL router to connect my xp and vista machine i have followed many guides including this one: http://www.cnet.com.au/desktops/0,239029372,339289508-4,00.htm which is good. i installed microsofts update to display the xp machine in the map but know all it thinks it is, is a media server because i stream music to my ps3

  1. In order to share the files, you need to go to the folder the files are stored in, right click, and select share. You would then be able to map a path from the other computer to the shared folder on the first computer; copy and paste the files.
