How do i connect my Motorola Q9 as a modem with the 3G network?

I tried the AT&T comm software but is unable to connect. Is there any other software i can download?

  1. Steps to connecting Motorola Q9 as a modem

    A. Steps to setup Q9 as a Modem

    •

    Go to Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB Device Type

    •

    Change USB Device Type from ActiveSync to Modem

    •

    Connect phone to USB data cable.

    B. Steps to setup Modem on your machine (PC)

    •

    Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options

    •

    Click on Modems. Your Modem should appear as Smartphone Wireless USB Modem with the Port number that it’s attached to.

    •

    With this device highlighted, click on Properties.

    •

    Click on Advanced tab. Set Extra Initialization Commands as the following AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","telstra.internet","0.... “telstra.internet” is the APN that we are using for Telstra

    •

    Click OK on all of the setup screens.

    C. Steps to setup a Network Connection on your machine (PC)

    •

    Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> New Connection Wizard

    •

    Click Next

    •

    Select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next

    •

    Select "Set up my connection manually" and click Next

    •

    Select "Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next

    o

    If you get a “Select a device” dialogue box, select Smartphone Wireless USB Modem

    •

    Leave ISP Name blank. Click Next

    •

    Phone should be entered as *99# and click Next

    •

    "Create this connection for:" can be set to your preference and click Next

    •

    Remove checkmarks for account name and password, default internet connection. Click Next.

    •

    Checkmark "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop” and click Finish

    •

    Open the newly created Dial-Up Connection and go to Properties.

    •

    On the General tab, click on Configure button under modem name. Remove checkmarks on "Enable HW flow control", "Enable modem error control", and "Enable modem compression". Click OK

    •

    On the General tab, verify that phone number is *99#

    •

    On the Networking tab, select PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet from the “Type of dial-up server I am calling” Drop-Down menu.

    •

    On the Networking tab, checkmark only Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) connection

    •

    Click on OK

    •

    Click on Dial

    •

    If everything went OK, Dial-Up Connection is now established.

    D. Disconnecting you PC from LAN network.

    •

    Disconnect LAN cable from your PC.

    •

    Start Internet Explorer.

    •

    Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connection -> LAN Settings.

    •

    Uncheck “Use Proxy Server” box. Click OK to close this dialogue.

    •

    Click OK to close Internet Options dialogue.

    •

    Close the Internet Explorer.

    Open Internet Explorer again to get the new settings activated.


  2. try connecting the usb cable to the computer and it will say new hardware found and set it up on Modems google the bluethooth modems and find the number  and your good to go!
