How do i connect my surround sound to a hd dvd player ?

i have a 5.1 surround sound system and i was trying to connect it to my hd dvd player. I just don't know what the appropriate cables are.

What output and input options do you have? Toslink optical or Coaxial Digital cables will work.. also if you have HDMI input on your surround sound it is possible to run it through surround sound system...
