Question:

How do i connect my tivo to the internet?

i already had it connected but the cord slpied out and now it sais it only has 3 days left of program info and to connect to tivo services or i wont ha have any of my things tivoing anymore. help?

  1. Hi chrisbatshon,

    First if you haven't already done so plug the network cord back into your TiVo.

    Unplug (don't just turn off) your modem, your router and Tivo for a minute or so.

    Plug in - first your modem, now your router, after a minute or so plug in your TiVo. Don't do anything now just wait until TiVo completely boots up. You can watch on your TV screen if you want. It will take three or four minutes for TiVo to boot.

    That should reestablish your Internet connection.

  2. Sorry, I couldn't figure out what you meant by "cord splied out".

    Try connecting a phone cord and go to the "TiVo Central" > "Messages & Settings" > "Settings" > "Phone & Network" > "Use phone instead" menu and do a dialy call.  You can get a 100ft phone cord cheaply enough.

    Under the "Phone & Network" page (above) there is information for changing your network settings, viewing the network status, and testing the TiVo service connection.

    If none of that works, try the "TiVo Central" > "Messages & Settings" > "Troubleshooting" > "Phone/Network Connection" menu.
