How do i convert my iPod songs back to mp3's?

I want to delete all my songs off my computer as i now have them on my iPod. But i remebered that i wouldn't be able to burn them onto a disc if need be or send them to people online?

  1. Aren't they stored as MP3s on an iPod anyway??

    If you have iTunes you can convert them on there. Just go to settings and under Importing make sure it's set to use the MP3 converter. You can also select songs in iTunes and click on Convert to MP3 under the Advanced menu.


  2. Yes, if your songs are protected by DRM, you need convert them firstly to mp3 format, then you could burn the mp3 songs onto a CD, of course you could share them with your friends online freely.

  3. Depending on how your songs were imported I think by default Itunes sets them as AAC audio files when you import a cd. You would have to check and see how your songs were imported into itunes by right clicking on a song and selecting get info. If they are in AAC format you would probably have to get an AAC to MP3 encoder. I just did a search and it looks like there are several free one's out there.
