How do i convert my playstation 3 HDMI cable to Component cables?

I have a tv that uses component cables but my playstation has HDMI cables.

  1. they sell them at any electronics store. and dont buy the expensive one because a digital signal is either all there or not so there is no difference between cheap and expensive ones except for build quality.


  2. You can buy a set of Component Video cables for the playstation 3, it is how I have mine connected.

    Converting HDMI to component is not simply done with a cable, if you had no Component Video inputs available, give us more info on your entire setup.

  3. Just buy a HDMI cable for your PS3 - any old HDMI cable will do.

    You cannot convert HDMI back into component - the signal on the HDMI cable is encrypted and can only be decrypted and processed by your television (at least for now anyways.)

    If you want to use surround sound for your PS3, you will still need to connect your PS3 to your receiver with a digital coax cable.  Also, be sure to go into the PS3's menu, go to Sound Settings and turn OFF HDMI audio.  Otherwise you won't get a signal over the coax cable.  (stupid, stupid design!)
