How do i convert my rupees in dollars?

Hey guys! My brother will be going to USA next month. He is suppose to take some cash with him. But the problem which is arising is that how should he convert his Rupee currency into Dollar currency? And the important thing if you can understand is that he want to convert all his hard cash (black) to dollar currency. Please guide me what should he do? I stay in Mumbai so if you can then try to tell me any places where it can be.

Depending on where in the USA he's going, most large airports do currency exchange. I know in the San Francisco bay area, both SFO (San Francisco) and SJC (San Jose) both do currency exchange. Southern California airports such as LAX (Los Angeles International) also does currency exchange.

Simple.  Go to moneychangers or Thomas cook.  They will assist you in getting dollars, as per RBI guidelines.

All airports in India have the facility. You can contact forex dealing banks to convert like ICICI< SBI<and Axis bank

Like the other 2 said, airports have money exchanges in the major cities especially.  You may have to stop in Miami, that would be a good time to exchange.  This is an expensive option for the most part - you may get a better deal if you do it at a local bank in Mumbai, if possible.

But.... does he really need cash?  Is it possible to deposit your rupees in India on a debit card (or bank account with debit card) with a Visa or Mastercard logo?  You can use it to shop with, and if you need cash, use it at an ATM *when* you need it. When you return home, any money left over will still be there.

It is safer to carry money this way, esp when visiting the U.S. - don't mark yourself!!
