I've been wearing glasses since i was about 6 or 7. I'm 14 now and they are just ANNOYING!

i need to keep them on in gym class and i'm always scared that a ball will come flying at my face and knock them off my face--it's happened 3 times.[in one year]. and i'm also sick of everyone telling me i look better without them or telling me to take them off or them wanting to try them on.

I'm going into high school and i REALLY want them. Glasses just make me feel like, ugh.

thanks so much :D

  1. I have the oposite problem! My mum wants me to get them but I tried them today and they terrify me!

I say you sit her down and tell her how much they are effecting your confidence and how getting them will help you so much in the long run. Also offer to pay for them yourself.

  2. Contacts are a big responsibility, if you don't take care of them, they can cause severe eye damage. If you want contacts, you need to prove to your parents that you are responsible enough. You need to keep your room clean, keep the bathroom clean (most people keep their contacts in the bathroom and if your bathroom is disgusting, so is you contacts), and help out around the house WITHOUT being asked. I give this advice to all my teenage patients who want contacts and 95% of the time it works.

  3. From the doctor's point of view, I always tell the parents that getting contacts for their children depends on how responsible their child is. Getting contacts is a very important stage in a kids life. But in order to take care of your contacts, you have to be really responsible. So prove to your parents that you are a mature growing daughter and that you can take on the responsibility of getting contacts.

  4. u should do things to make u look more responsible like clean the house or babysit or something like that ....then ask her ad remind her of all the responsible things uve done lately...

  5. You should just talk to your mom and tell her how you feel.

But remember that glasses are better and last longer, and in the long run, the cheaper of the two options.

  6. Understand how you feel. You have to show your mom that you will be responsible with the contacts. Will you take care of your eyes and contacts? Will you  keep up the maintenance of the contacts and how often will you possibly lose them. Lots of problems if your not responsible about them. She is just concerned about you and finances. Don't just tell her what you will do convince her that your ready by being mature about it.
