  1. i have been asking for a horse for 12 years and i finally got 1 this year

  2. Okay what i did is I found someone who already owned a horse. They were looking for a shareboard.

A Shareboard is you pay a certain amount of money a month to "OWN" the horse for a certain amount of days a week. i started out 1 day a week for a month for a 100$ a month then it was 150$ for two day and so on

If you find someone willing to have a Shareboard with you and you take care of the horse that you are sharboarding then you can show your mom that you are responsible enough to take care of a horse

  3. OK.  First you need to show your Mom that you can handle anything!  Be extra helpful around the house, and do stuff even when she doesn't tell you to do it.  She'll start thinking about how good you are.  Second, check the newspaper for ads on horses.  When you go to look at the horse, make sure you can ride it!  I went to get a horse one time, only to discover that she would break every rope tied to her and run away when she saw a saddle!  Third, find a magazine with nothing but horse stuff in it.  Carry it around in  your hand for the next 6 weeks - she'll notice it some time or another and that will get her thinking about the whole "horse" deal again.  As soon as she mentions anything about it, that's your chance.  Jump in and tell her everything you've been wanting to tell her (trust me, you'll think up some things).  Just don't push it too far.  Remember, just be responsible and very helpful and nice.  and in the meantime, check the newspapers and get your cousin to help you look.  If your cousin has a lot of horses, then she's bound to know other people with horses.  if he / she really wants to help you, she'll get everyone she knows to look for you a good horse.  hope i helped!

  4. My grandaughter said the same thing!

I gave the horse back---they take a lot of care.

Let your cousin have you take care of one of her horses for about a month. Then you can show your mother that you are willing to take the time to care for a horse.

  5. .not just hay you have to buy but I'm sure you know that from being around them.that's a great idea about seeing if you cld take care of your cousins horses.they are alot of work and expensive.you cld check to see if they have livestock autions in your town.thats where we go.

  6. first of all, its "hay", not hey

look in your newspaper classified section or on places like

    equinehits.com

Show her you're responsible by getting all of your work done in a timely manner, which will show you have time left over to care for a horse.  Help out at a local barn or stable to show that you're committed to horses and willing to learn.

good luck, but remember a horse is A LOT of committment.

  7. Well to show your mom that you are resposible start by doing your homework when you get home, cleaning your room with out being told.  All the stuff around the house that you are expected to do, DO IT with out being asked and do extra.  If you have any pets now show that you can help care for them.  Horses are very expensive to just get into with out a whole hearted commitment.  And not just on your part also on your parents. They will have to help you get their and they will have to help pay for things.  This is a lot to ask from some parents as money is tight for most families.  Maybe you can start by just getting lessons and building a love for horses.  Then in a few years when you can have a job you can earn money to pay for everything your horse will need.  I was 13 when I bought my a horse with my babysitting money and trust me when you work for it and pay for it you feel like you really earned it.

  8. look really anywhere. EVEN A CHEAP HORSE CAN BE A GOOD HORSE. MY HORSE WAS 1500 AND I WIN SHOWS.  if you want a quarter horse type in quarter horses for sale.   if you want to show in open shows i would get an arabian or paint or quarter. here are some sites.

ALL THESE HORSES ARE UNDER 5000

    GOOD LUCK

  9. ok, you may have to realize that it's going to take some time to prove to her you are able to do this. And you have to ask yourself that too. Do you believe that you will be feeding, grooming, watering, exercising a horse everyday. It's ALOT of work, but as you probably know, it's really rewarding. Also, do you believe that you will be able to handle injuries, bad behaviours, cracking ice water (if your in cold weather :) scooping loads of horse manure, and other stuff that's on the down side of horses? Think about it...mabey work at your cousins for a month...and then decide. It's ALL SOOO rewarding though :) I love it soo much...but also have seen friends loose interest.

  10. You need to show your mother that you are responsible enough to own a horse.  Get a job, do well in school, and act mature.  Horses are a huge responsibility both financially and in terms of the care they require.  You need to understand that to show your parents you deserve one.

I would suggest not buying a cheap horse.  Very low priced horses are often chronically lame or untrained.  Make an investment on a fairly priced horse, get the best that your family can afford.  You can look for ads online, at your local tackshop and grain store, or you can ask your riding instructor.
