Why should your parents get you such an expensive gift?

Parents are not a bank....they are not to be treated that way.

I wouldn't get my child one if they asked for it.  I can think of better things they could get or do with that money...like put it in the bank for college or a car when they are old enough, etc.

just explain how it would be good for excersice and all that good stuff or raise a little bit of money like tell them u'll pay like 1/4 of it

First, you need to know whether your parents can afford such a purchase.  If they cant, then that is the end of the story.  However, if they can, here is what you do.

1.  Be professional.  You need to show them that you are responsible, and that you can handle the responsibility of owning one, and using it safely.

2.  Arrange an appointment to speak with them, let them know you have something very near and dear to your heart to discuss, and find out when would be the best opportunity to get them BOTH for a few minutes of their time.

3.  Bring up the subject, without whining, taking care to talk about the benefits.  Then, bring up the negatives, and tell your parents how you are going to handle the negatives.  (Ie..paying for gas, storing the machine, etc.)  

4.  Ask them if they would be willing to make the purchase.  IF yes cool, if No, see number 5.

5.  Ask them why they would not be willing to make the purchase.  Is it the time?  Should you ask again in a few months?  Is it that they dont trust you?  Find out what you can do to gain their trust.

6.  Ask them for time to prove to you that you can handle the responsibility and then do what you can to change their mind, without whining.
