i've been riding dirt bikes all my life, since i was six years old, and i've been racing dirt bikes for about five years and i've become pretty good at it. i live in kind of a small town, and my high school is about 25 minutes from my house. my dad has a street-legal kawasaki, but my parents don't trust me, or other drivers, enough to allow me to ride it to my school. riding on a paved road is nothing at all compared to some of the enduros i've done out in the boonies. how do i convince my parents? or is it better to just swallow my pride and drive a car?

  1. If you've had professional street rider training it shouldn't be a problem. If you haven't, get it. Maybe that will put their minds at ease.

  2. i told my mom to let me get a bike or im joining the Marines. lol yeah kinda mean

  3. As long as you are legal to ride on the street, I think they should consider it.  The motorcycle will get better gas mileage and as long as you do drive a car in bad weather ask them to give you a chance.  Maybe you could take a few short trips into town or school with them following to make them feel more confident.

  4. I'm 36 with wife and kids and my parents still shake in there boots if tell them I'm going on a big ride, they are always going to try and protect you,  its not the way you are going to ride that they worry about   its the other car driver who didn't see you,   unfortunately if you live in there house you must play by there rules

  5. Riding in traffic is not dirt riding.

If your folks, who know both you and the

other idiots on the road, don't like the idea,

they just might have a point.

From experience: 'Cagers` will try to kill you and

then claim they 'didn't see her coming'. Your

skill might not matter so much as their indiference.
