  1. It always seems to be the responsibility aspect of things.

Show your parents you can be responsible.

Help around the house, do work and chores without be asked, and always volunteer to do something to help your parents.

Do your research on what you'll need for a cat and what breeds would be best for you and your family.

    Save up your money, too!

Then, after you think your parents feel your responsible and you've done your research, go to your parents prepared.

Tell them why you want one, how you'll help with the kitten, and what breed/information/etc. and share what you've learned.

Also- tell them that you'd be able to contribute some money to buying toys, a litter box, etc.

You need to show them that you are responsible and mature enough to be able to handle and care for a cat.

    Good Luck!

  2. prove to them that ur responsible by doing things with out being asked

  3. idk i think u should show them how responible u can be

  4. Ok, so your parents don't think you're responsible? Prove them wrong!  :)  You'll have to be patient and consistent, but it can be done.  Do extra chores around the house without being asked, be cooperative, obey your parents along with any household rules they might have set up, and just generally show them how much you have matured.  They might revise their thinking, but you have to be sincere about it so they know it's not just a temporary "phase" to win them over.

One thing I picked up on is, you asked how do you convince *your parents* to get you a cat.  If you're the one who wants the cat, it is YOUR responsibility to get one! (with their permission, of course).  Save up your money -- enough to cover a modest adoption fee, plus enough for (or at least a significant percentage towards) initial medical care, spaying and neutering, supplies (like litter boxes, carrier, toys, etc.). Do your research online as to the things your new kitty will be needing and be prepared to provide them.  Show your parents what you have learned, and that you are willing and able to take care of kitty on a regular basis.  A well-cared for cat can easily live 10, 12, 15 years or more; so be sure you *are* ready for the commitment as well.  What will happen to kitty (for example) in a few years after you've grown up and are off to college?  Demonstrate to your parents that not only are you thinking of today, but are taking a realistic view and have planned also for the future.

When that happy time comes, I highly recommend adopting a cat from a local animal shelter or rescue, rather than from a pet shop, breeder or friend whose cat happened to have (yet another) "oops!" litter.  Most of these cats have no health or behavior problems, but are facing euthanasia simply because there aren't enough homes to go around. :(  You can save a life! :)  Not only that, but often a cat or kitten which comes from a rescue/shelter will often have had some medical care (such as vaccinations, or even spay/neutering) already done beforehand; which both saves you money and helps to insure the health and well-being of the animal.

Best wishes and good luck with your new pet!
