stove, should i use a crock pot? Remember i need the temp to set it on and how long. I normally just buy chicken tenders and cook them on the stove until they are white inside and out with lots of butter.

  1. Every one of the answers before mine are good.  I like to do beer chicken.  It's best if you have a stand but you can do w/out one if your careful.  I season the whole thing with Tony Cacherie's seasoning.  But you can use salt, pepper and garlic powder or anything you like.  Then open a can of beer, any kind will do, and shove it up the rear of the chicken.  Balance the chicken on the can of beer in a roasting pan and rub regular yellow mustard over the chicken and sprinkle with paprika.  Drape with foil and bake for an hour at 350.  Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20-30 min. until the juices run clear.

    Bon Appetit.

  2. You can cook a whole chicken for about an hour on 350 in the oven (temp/time could differ if your oven runs too hot or too cold).  YOu can buy various rubs but I like salt and pepper, then brushing the skin with melted butter and pouring a little chicken broth and water in teh bottom of the pan.  It's a no brainer and delicious.

  3. Any way is good.  I love chicken.  To bake I spread some olive oil on the skin (sometimes I but garlic butter under the skin) season it with what you like.  I do a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.  Sometimes I do rosemary.  You can stuff the cavity with lemons or oranges or bundles of dried herbs--or fresh---basically anything goes as you can tell.  I place on a roasting rack and I use the lid on the pan and bake in a 350 degree oven until done--depends on how big but I use a meat thermometer.  I take the lid off for about the last 15 minutes of baking to get that crisp skin.  Baste as it bakes.

  4. Just pop the whole thing into a 325 oven and roast uncovered for 20 min. a lb.  I sprinkle the outside of the chicken with salt and pepper and put a few dabs  of butter on the skin.  Easy as pie.

  5. Yes you can cook it in the oven.  I like to cover it as in a covered roaster or pan covered with aluminum foil for at least part of the cooking time. Many people do not cover it. 350 degrees will work  20-30 minutes per pound or until  juices are clear. Consult a meat thermometer if you have one.

A crock pot will work fine.  Try putting an onion inside the cavity or dribble lemon juice over it or both.  I don't know cooking times, but in a crock pot we generally cook for a long period and it will be done.
