He is done november 21st and thats his graduation so until then we can only communicate thru letters and they cant write for 2 weeks and they can only write if they have time. i know he is making something of himself and i fully support him doing this and im so proud of him. Im sure its hard on him but does anyone have any advice with how to deal with this ?

  1. Keep yourself busy. It will honestly go by in no time. My husband is in the navy and has to go on deployment quite often. And soon will be going to Iraq (boo) but I have learned to just keep myself busy and know that if he doesn't talk to me that day or even that week that it's not because he doesn't want to, but they are very busy and don't have much time to do anything. And remember he is trying to get used to this new place just as much as you are trying to get used to him not being here. But like I said it will be over sooner than you think. Just stop counting the days and just go with the flow.

  2. Few long-distance relationships survive very long, so you two might as well agree to pick up where you left off when he gets out of the service. You can stay in contact via e-mail, letters and phone calls. That way, you both have the freedom to date without feeling guilty or worrying about what the other person is up to.

I would suggest that you move forward with your own education and career development just as he has. Look into vocational education at the local community college, and start working towards your own financial independence.

When he gets out of the service, he will be a different person... amazingly so. You two will want to get to know each other all over again before progressing to marriage and making babies.
