  1. Have you tried Gripe Water?  You can get it from the Chemist.

  2. My daughter had colic and the thing that worked best for us was vacuum cleaner white noise. When your baby starts crying, try taking out your vacuum cleaner and turning it on. See if it doesn't help her to stop crying immediately.

Researchers think that the white noise reminds your baby of when she was in the womb. Sort of mimics the blood rushing around sound. This calms her pretty fast.

If it does work, go to http://www.colic-baby-bootcamp.com and download a free mp3 of white noise and burn it to a cd that you can put on repeat (so you don't wear your vacuum cleaner out).

    Hope this helps!!

  3. I agree with A Y the second answer..It most likely is gas that is hurting their little tummy..Just think they were in the womb not having to feel the pain of gas and now there is this feeling in there tummy and some babies just have a hard time pushing it out. I tried Hylands colic tablet..they are sold at most health food stores like whole foods. I used them a couple times and my little girls has not had a long crying fit since.

  4. According to my Pediatrician, and to the infamous Dr. Sears :), colic is a term that doctors give to babies when they are unable to pinpoint what is actually wrong with them.  In fact, Dr. Sears goes as far as to say you should never leave the doctor's office accepting that "excuse".  If a baby cries inconsolably for long periods of time, there is something wrong / bothering him or her.  I can't even imagine your situation, but I'm sure it's heartbreaking.  The most common culprit is gas.  Try mylicon- it won't hurt the baby if it's not gas, but could be a quick fix.  I'm no expert, but I know that it would be horrible watching my baby cry and not being able to help.  "Colic" is supposedly an outdated and made-up "diagnosis".  I'm so sorry for you, and would suggest getting another pediatrician's opinion.

Best of luck to you!  PS- Gripe water worked beautifully with my first baby.  :)

  5. My son did this for a few weeks too! But I found a couple of things that made him cry worse..

First, I breastfeed and I drank LOTS of coffee. That combination is devastating! I was keeping him high-strung with my coffee and even though he was tired, he couldn't sleep - so he'd stay awake all night crying and driving me insane. I cut the coffee out and he started doing better immediately!

And second, I have been establishing a bedtime routine for him -- which consists of a warm bath, clean diaper/nightgown and a snuggle/feeding session until he gets sleepy enough to start to drift off. Just taking an hour or so to get him situated for bed gives me a few hours to myself after he goes to sleep.

Its a life-saver!! Especially compared to how he was sleeping -- he used to wake up every night at about 11:30-12:00ish and SCREAM until about 3am when he finally just passed out from exhaustion. Nothing I tried would get him to stop.. until I stopped the coffee and got a routine going that made him feel safe and signified to him that it was time for sleep.

I wish you luck.. a baby who cried constantly can really be irritating! But you'll both get through it. <3

  6. Please try gripe water. Its works great! It completely "changed" my son when he had it. Its all natural and it helps with stomach problems.

  7. our 2 girls were the same. they  just worked with their babies as best they could, and now they are grown up with families of their own . It only lasts about 6 months  and is really no big deal because now we have fantastic grandchildren and 2  happy daughters

  8. My oldest son had colic and I found that bouncing him help out greatly and also rubbing his belly in a clockwise motion. I bought a jummper at wal-mart called a jummper-roo. It's like the johnny jump-ups only you don't have to put in the door way. Also the cheap brand gas drops helped. I would feed him the give him some gas drops then about 20-30 mins. later put him to bed after I made sure he burped good. There is also colic tablets that work really good.

  9. In my opinion and experience...infacol = c**p...coleif = c**p and gave my daughter diarrhoea...gaviscon ifnat = amazing and a total lifesaver and worked within 2-3days...its the easiest to prepare as you jst empty one scahet into the cold milk before you warm it and then shake...totally practical and I would swear by it!!!

  10. HI there , how old is the child ?

First Colic is gas in the intestines and digestive system, it can cause the baby terrible pain. The peak of colic is 5-7 weeks and it can be testing on the parents, mother especially.

Infacol is more for burp gas, there is another product called Infants Friend that worked quite well there is also another product called Donnalix its green and  It is in the baby section at some chemists in a White box with purple writing saying Colic Mix or something it doesnt say the name on the outside, but they have other products for pain relief etc so its not hard to find :) I used to give this to my son  before a feed 4 times a day (recommends 4 times only) and it helped him so much aswell as my change of diet which ill explain in a sec. You can start it on baby that is 4kgs and tastes nice too :)

Are you breastfeeding ? If so then I would eliminate some foods that can contribute to colic, slowly introduce then back one by one to see if it effects your baby. I had to stop eating Onion Garlic Cauliflower Brocoli Cabbage, All dairy cheese is the worst (Suplement with calcium tablets) Chocolate, orange juice, eggs and all soft drink, anything fizzy !  As soon as I stopped these foods and gave him drops he was a different baby !  Alot of people may say doesnt matter what you eat but I have ahd 3 great babies no problems with colic reflux anything then this one comes along and he gets colic bad, and diet changes completley.

See if there is anything you have been craving and eating or drinking alot of latley and cut that out and see if that helps. Allow 4 days for it to make a difference. I have slowly introduced the above foods back into diet now ( cant live without chocolate for that long lol) and he is fine now and is 17 weeks, so its not forever its something they grow out of :)

I also gave him lots of showers seem to help massgae his gut and lay her on back and put one leg up to opposite shoulder and repeat other side and this is a good excercise that can help them also.  Oh and hold her upright after every feed for atleast 10 min

Good luck it will ease before you know it :)

  11. Hello well one thing that works is alot at the most as you can were she is in your site is lay her own her tummy releifs the pressure is what i told not sure how

But one thing i was told was from birth was put a pair of socks on them and leave them only to take off during a bath and i did that as soon as she was out my husband put her socks on and well she never got the colic also gas drops works great

the thing about the socks is a old wives tale but it worked for me and my little sister did not use socks and he was a colicy baby

  12. try gripe water, and also try burping as much as possible after the feeding colic us usally associated with tummy aches

  13. The only other thing is gripe water, but that didnt work for my son.

Infacol was the only thing that helped him, 1 dropper or two before each feed.

  14. Hyland's Homeopathic Colic Tabs worked great for me.  But I only used them when the crying was so bad that i was afraid she was going to choke on her own drool or throw up.  I bought a front carrier for my daughter, and carried her everywhere.  It helped a lot.  I think it was just being close to me that did it.  She almost always fell asleep once I started walking around a lot.  I swear she spent the first 6 weeks of her life in that thing almost!  Good luck, I know how stressed you must feel right now.  Just keep your head up and I promise before you know it she'll grow out of it.
