i have a sony handycam that records to mini DVDs. problem is, once the disc is finalized, i can watch the movies, but it records in a format unreadable by my comp.

is there a way to convert these video files into mpeg or something i can use to make movies on my comp?

  1. I think you can use "E.M. Easy DVD Copy".It is very easy to use, only one mouse-click!

E.M. Easy DVD Copy  is an easy, effective, handy DVD movie backup software!

By using E.M. Easy DVD Copy, you can easily copy, shrink and burn your whole DVD at a high speed and with high quality.

You can aslo copy or shrink your favorite titles, pgc, chapters, subtitles and audios to hard disk or blank DVD disc.

The size of the compressed DVD movie can be decreased to 20% of the original DVD movie.

You can get "E.M. Easy DVD Copy" from here:

    http://www.effectmatrix.com/dvdcopy

  2. If your computer has a drawer loading DVD drive, rip the video with HandBrake:

    http://handbrake.fr/

If your computer has a slot-loading DVD drive or if it is not a DVD drove (only does CDs), then you need an Analog/Digital bridge.

    For USB, use http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us...

    For firewire, use

    http://canopus.com/products/videoconvers...

Warning: DVD camcorders compress video a LOT. They provide the worst available video quality of the common consumer camcorder storage formats. Next best are hard drive and certain flash memory camcorders - best available quality comes from miniDV tape based camcorders.

  3. The videos are already encoded in MPEG-2 - the problem is the disk format is UDF (as per the DVD standard).  To copy your mini DVD on your PC you need an app like DVDDecrypter.

  4. check the camcorder inst. DVD

    or Hard drive DVD

  5. im not sure what kind you have, but you probobly put the disk in the computer cd drive or the dvd writer drive. then a message wil probobly come up. or say it found new hardware or something like that. then you just do it. and when you got the dvd recorder, it should have came with a dvd installer for the comp to write them onto the comp
