I dont ever deviate my ball position when teeing up. I use the proper method for aiming at my target l. I never try to play my slice by aiming to the left becuase i dont always slice. I have an almost perfect swing. Hips dont move. Left arm locked and strike the ball well. My club speed is around 98mph and ball speed 114mph. I generally hit the ball about 240--255 teeing off, but im not consistant hitting them straight. I have strengthened my grip and made sure I close the face of the club at impact. Suggestions?

  1. How about you find the best PGA Teaching Pro in your area, and let him have a look at your swing?  I guarantee you that it will be the best $100 that you ever spend and that he'll have your swing straightened out lickety split!

  2. Quit golf

    lol only joking , its a widespread problem which sadly alot of people have been infected ,

    The symptoms are as follows;

    Loosing 20 % of distance

    And a high weak tajectory .

    all i can say is make sure your not going on an in to out swing plane as the club will hit the ball with a glancing blow & create backspin on a left axis .

    So make sure by having your swing anylysed or put a ball behind your hitting ball and try to knock it backwards , thats showing that your staying on a stright takeaway .

  3. You might be 'coming over the top.'  I would suggest making sure you release your hands (turn your hands at impact) and form a swing path, or plane, that goes from inside to outside.  The easiest way to do this is when you are lined up to hit the ball, take a tee, a leaf, or any little thing and put it about 6 inches to the left of the ball, and 6 inches away from you.  When you swing, your swing path should take the club out to that little thing you placed.  That will prevent you from going over the top and hitting a slice.

  4. Looks like you've covered most of the bases.  The only things left would be your swing plane and swing tempo.  Even the smallest degree of hitting the ball "outside-in" can produce a slice.  If it's only a little slice, you could use it to your advantage when you need to fade a shot.

    Otherwise, since you have all the other factors under control, I would concentrate on your swing plane.  Myself, I imagine myself the center of a large "disc", which represents my swing plane.  Beginning from the take-away, I try to make my clubhead follow the outer edge of the "disc" and the same on my downswing.  It worked for me for quite a while.

    The last thing I would suggest, is your tempo.  Try to make the tempo of your swing the same as your "practice" swing.  No faster or slower.  Once you get into a consistant swing pattern routine, you should see better results.  I do stress "SHOULD"....but you know how golf is.  It really helped straighten out my drives and even my fairway shots.

    I hope this helps you, but everyone is different!  Good Luck!

  5. O.K. Mr. Perfect Swing.  First of all, your hips should move, not swaying but coiling like a spring during your backswing.  There could still be a number of factors that are causing your slice.

    1. Shaft stiffness, too flexible of a shaft will not allow your clubhead to square up at impact.  Thus, slice.

    2.  Swing angle, inside out or outside in swing although it may be slight can be the difference here.

    3.  Hip clearance.  You might be clearing your hips a little too early causing you to open up, regardless what you do with your grip at impact, causing these sporadic slices.

    4.  Golf god's hate you.  No tips on this one.
