  1. stick about a dozen toothpicks in the top.  Then loosely wrap w/ lots of plastic film, being sure to seal under the plate, and sealing the edges of plastic to each other.

  2. a bowl or container over top maybe?

  3. they make tupper-ware containers for cakes

  4. If you dont want to go out and buy a taller cake platter, I would have to suggest covering it with aluminum foil. But it will touch the top just dont have i tightly covered. Make it like a dome over the cake. Good luck

  5. ''how could i cover it with smashing the top, thanks to all!'' ---------> lol well, if you WANT to smash the top..just put something heavy ontop of it or get a hammer and HIT HIT HIT.. i'll help lol

    OR

If you DONT want to smash it and it was just a typo lol.. just put it on its own shelf with nothing around it and cover the shelf above so nothing drips down.. it'll be protected like that without even touching the cake! (=

  6. Put toothpicks in various places on the top and sides and cover lightly with plastic wrap or foil.  The toothpicks will keep the covering from sticking.  Then, we you are ready to serve it, remove the wrapping and the toothpicks and smooth the icing back over with a warm knife (that is, assuming you are using icing).....

Oops, looks like Sugar Pie beat me to it.  Hey, great minds!

  7. insert toothpicks in top of cake. one in middle and four along the sides

then cover with plastic wrap. toothpicks will keep plastic from touching icing

  8. You can also insert toothpicks on top & sides & cover with plastic wrap. The toothpicks keep it off off the frosting.
