  1. Problem is that the FCC has restricted broadcasting from pirate  stations. To broadcast far, you will need a big tower as well as lots of expensive equipment, as well as a license from the FCC. Not complying with their regulations will result in a fine of couple of tens of thousands of dollars.

  2. You can create your own station but it will only get out maybe a max of a mile or two and cost you a few thousand for a good setup, but for around the neighborhood, about $100 should do you.

This is a broadcast allowed by a section of the FCC code called part 15 which allows for limited range broadcasting.

After that, requires a license from the FCC and roughly a $1Million to start and about 5 years of time to waste to start one ground up or up to $20Million and about 6 months if you want a station in New York City for instance.

It's a company game now to reach the masses. Jetsetter and Duh has it right though on the problems and cost.

  3. well you did not find it from hear but you can git some 2meter ham radios to work on that or google how to make a radio  station

ps the fcc dose not like free banders

  4. My dad called your kind of radio, pirate radio.

I used to listen to a pirate radio station when I was a kid. We lived in a neighborhood full of college students for a year.

I was amazed because they cussed on the radio and played really nasty songs (I was 10) by singers like Rick James.

It wasn't long before they either moved or someone shut them down. I was sad.

My dad had been a radio man for years. I wonder if HE turned them in???? Oh my.

  5. This is simple. You don't. At least in the US. Pretty much applies to UK, too.

All that stuff is very well-guarded by the FCC and they come down very hard on those who skip the regulations. Messes up the legal guys with interference and such.

Now, if you've got lots of $$ you can buy an existing station or keep your eyes open for any lo-power opportunities that come up - but that's not likely.

Sorry to mess-up your dream, that's just the way it is.
