How do i cure depression?

I'm not happy with my life, i see people on tv and my Friends and there all happy, why cant i be. i get depressed alot and start having doubts about my life, i even thought i about suicide once. i see people who just don't care about anything and they always seem to get all the luck. and i hate being stressed all the time, and i;m only 17. how do i get these stupid thoughts out of my head??? helppp???

  1. I'm not sure there is a cure, only treatment.  Exercise helps, but then again if you're depressed you don't feel like doing anything.  Go to your doctor and tell them you'd like to try an ssri

    You control your life.

    If you dwell in misery, you'll only stay there.

    If you think positive, and aspire to become better, you will.

    Join your friends in being happy.

    You're only seventeen; you're still young.

    You've got a lot of life ahead of you.

    There's so much out there to experience.

    Suicide is never an option. That won't help you in any way.

    Spend some time thinking.

    Not worrying, just thinking.

    Think about what exactly is troubling you, and try to work it out.

    Problems will only make you feel worse if you ignore them.

    To keep your mind off of dreary things, find something you're passionate about, whether it's an instrument, gardening, art, cooking, etc. Find something you love, dedicate some effort to it, and try to turn things around.

    i suffer with depression and it is really hard to overcome. the best thing to do is speak to your GP about it and see what they can recommend.

    if you have a close friend you can confide in when you have negative thoughts it can help to get it off your chest. alternatively there are loads of helplines like the Samaritans that you can call if you don't have anyone close that you can/want to talk to.

  6. I know how it feels, I've dealt with the same problems. While there is no cure for depression, you can keep it under control somewhat. The most important thing is to go see a therapist. They will probably put you on some anti-depressants which help ALOT. Trust me. I also find that exercising helps (especially long walks). Drinking orange juice seems to help too. If you need someone to talk to though, I'm here if you need help.
