  1. you need to let him alone for at least 2 days(but still feed and give him water)

    call the vet immediately

  2. umm well ask petland theyll probably know if they dont then go to a vet

  3. Well, I'm not going to sugarcoat the answer for you. The majority of hamsters that get wet tail die within 48 hours. If she's had it for more than two days and is alive, it's not wet tail.

    causes -

    wet-tail is usally stress related.

    Too much handling

    Change in environment

    Change in diet

    Inadequate cage cleaning

Being away from mother and/or siblings

    Death of a tank mate

Baby hamsters are more succeptable to wet-tail than juvenile and adult hamsters.

    Symptoms of Wet-tail

The symptoms may not appear for a few days or so, but once they set in, you can see various symptoms.

    Wet bottom end

    Smell/ foul odor

    Diarrhea

    Lethargy

    Lack of appetite

    Excess sleeping

    Not grooming itself

    Walking with a hunched back

The most obvious symptom will be the wet bottom, tail area.

    Wet-tail Treatment

Well, luckily there are several products out today that can help cure wet-tail. You can take a trip to most of your local petstores to include Petsmart and Petland to grab a bottle of 'Dri-Tail' or 'Wet-tail Drops.' Or, you can go to a vet that sees hamsters, and he can put the hamster on Baytril or Sulfatrim.

Although there are medicines, they don't always work and the hamster typically dies.

I had a hamster with wet tail, and she survived but I cought it early and used a home made remedy.

I took out the food and replaced it with PLAIN yogurt and alfalfa hay. I fed that to her for a several days (or untill the symptoms are gone) and she lived. This is typically not the case.

So, sorry for such bad news. Next time, take better care of your poor little hammy.

    Best of luck

  4. there is a medicine you can buy in the stores. If one store doesn't have it keep looking. That said, it's probably going to die :(
