  1. Don't, take her to the vets and they can make sure it's done safely! You don't want to risk hurting your little fluff ball! :)

  2. i wuldnt cut its nails... i would wait till he/she is about 13/14 weeks..

when u cut its nails you just gotta make sure you dont cut any pink bit that is on the nail, this should be some sort of vein (quick), if you do, it will start bleeding...even if it does you dont have to worry about but u dont want any mess eh..

you could do with a regular nail cutter or a buy a special 1 from a per shop... never do with scissors as the claw tend to splinter.

if you dont cut its claw now... try to touch its paws as much as possible to make it less comfortable for him/her when you trim the claws...

if you dont feel comfortable you could just ask your vet to show you how to do it... its not as hard as it sounds!!

    hope i helped!!

  3. At 8 weeks you should cut her nails regularly so that she will get use to it.  It is a little hard when they are little but they get use to it.  I have been taking care of my cats nails since she was 8 weeks.  Now when I grab her to cut her nails she actually likes it.

ANY breeder will tell you to do this at home.  So people telling you not to need to comment elsewhere.  Cats nails are VERY easy to clip.

First.  Take the kittens paw in your hand and push down on the pad.  This will retract the claw.  Then use a clipper for cats (can get at petsmart or cat section at walmart.) This is MUCH smaller then a dog clipper.  Look at the claw, you can see the vein through the claw.  Stay away from that.  You simply want to clip the tip off.

Do this every 2 weeks so your cat gets use to it.  Also when older it needs to be done about once a month.  Your cats claws can get stuck in things if they get too long, which could end up hurting the cat.

    Good luck!

  4. im not sure about being to young but you should ring a grooming place and ask them. i take my kitty down to the groomer and get then done there for $10.. also if you want to do it yourself there is this funny little black thing you can buy from your pet shop and put over your cats face while you do them. works a treat for my cat. as soon as the hat thing goes on he stops moving, its not cruel its just because its dark they dont know what to do..

  5. use this website. it should help you:

  6. well i never cut my cats nails because they never need it so im asuming since you do she's an inside cat..? and of course when you play with her she's going to scratch you with her claws! shes a cat they dont have claws for battering round pink fluffy balls and playing harmlessly with string. and if she's only 8 weeks old she shouldn't have her claws cut regardless of how much u cry over a little scratch she's still a baby u fool. honestly some people r so stupid.

P.S. having an inside cat is cruel

  7. 8 weeks isnt too young to cut them...I have a 4 month old kitten that I got when she was 8 wks n i have been cuttin her nails myself since i got her...my kitten has clear nails so this makes it easier...if your kitten has clear nails too..itll be easy. I bought a pair of animal nail clippers for like $3 at walmart...even dog 1s are fine. i put my kitten in my lap so that her back legs and tail are tucked securely between my legs...to keep her from tryin to get away. With clear nails...u can see a darker area at the base of the nail that looks like the whole nail is filled in...you want to cut up to just before this part....u will be able to see the difference between the pinkish and clear part of the nail...DO NOT cut into the pink area. If you do...its ok...kitty will survive but bleed...to stop the bleeding...run a bar of soap across the tip of the nail.

  8. I'd go to the vet and do it ... sometimes u end up cutting more then is allowed and their knuckles bleed.

  9. you could do it with a little hamster strategy. you see, we can't really clip hamsters' nails. we can only wear them down by putting sand paper in it's wheel. why not try getting ur cat a scratching post. if it doesn't affect it too much, then put some sand paper on the post. it'll be ike fileing nails. i don't think that this is the best idea. it's just a suggestion.

  10. first go to the vet and watch how the cut her nails

just ask them to teach you

    we asked our vet

and then get a pair of good expensive clippers from petsmart

and do it while there sleeping

it should also have some basic cutting intstructions with the clippers if you get a good enought kind which you should

  11. You can cut them.  Get a suitable nail clipper.

While cuddling the kitty, start handling one of her paws.  She needs to get comfortable with this.  Gently squeeze the pad to make the claw come out.  Don't cut them right away unless she seems comfortable with it.  If she is calm about it, then hold the clippers to the claw and see if she's okay with that.  When she is, then clip the claw.  You need to make her comfortable with the procedure, otherwise it will be a big hassle.  If she gets restless, let her go and do some more later.

Once she is used to it, you can pick her up any time she's in a calm mood, and clip a few claws, eventually you can do them all in one sitting.

  12. Use cat claw trimmers and only take off a tiny bit at the end of the nail. Some people say to do it every other week. I think it‘s safer to cut off less than you are told, and to do it more often, (like once a week). Never use trimmers that are made for humans or dogs, because you are more likely to hurt her that way. You can ask your vet or groomer to show you the proper way to do it. Here's a website that shows you how:

  13. OUCH!!!   Aren't these just the worst little razor type paper cuts by the dozen EVER???   :O

OK,  this is really simple and the best time to teach you how to do it.

Get  a blanket and cover your legs for protection.

Use a pair of baby nail clippers for humans.  A kitten's nails are still tiny and soft enough to use them.

Just apply enough pressure on the paw so one nail pops out at a time and try to snip the little tip where it hooks.  Try not to go to far back where it begins to flare out or you can see the "quick" or red/pink vein.

If you go to far and it should bleed, take some flour and pack it on with pressure.  It should stop in a minute.

NEEDLESS to say if it does not or you cut anything else CALL the VET!!!

DO NOT stress out the kitten.  If it begins to pant from being over handled or stress, STOP at once.  It just is not worth it.  A vet or groomer will always cut them for a slight charge.

PS:  You can also gently file the sharp tips with a soft baby nail file/buffer.

    Good Luck!!
