How do i deal with this permanent decision?

Alright so I'm 16 and recently got my first tattoo. So far, i don't regret getting it at all. I'm afraid of my parents finding out and what they would do or think. I can't imagine the consequences. I feel terrible because my parents have had a lot of trust in me and this would devastate them so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of how i could possibly explain myself. Or better yet gain their trust back after wards. My parents are the kind of parents that don't even let me date yet, so a tattoo would be out of the question. HELP?! =/

  1. Will they see it? If not just keep it from them until you have to tell them, hopefully it will be after you turn 18. Don't sweat it, it isn't like you got a girl pregnant or your a drug addict or something!

  2. personally i think It was a mistake to get the tattoo if don't want to disappoint your parents and you know they wont like it.  you only have 2 more years before you are 18 and can make your own decisions.  you will probably have to do a lot of butt kissing,  but really it is up to your parents as for what you have to do to gain back there trust.

  3. You've learned an important lesson about trust - it's easy to lose and hard to gain.

You also learned an important lesson about permanent decisions - you need to weigh the consequences before, not after.

You can't hide it forever from your parents, and the longer you hide the more the lie grows and the less trustworthy you prove yourself.

Tell your parents you need to sit down with them and tell them something important, and you'd appreciate it if they calmly listen until you are finished, and then think before they react.  (At this point they will probably assume you're pregnant, so you might want to clear that up right away.)  Tell them you made a decision you know will upset them, but that you sincerely feel it was the right decision for you.  Tell them you got a tattoo, and explain your reasons for getting it, why it is meaningful to you.  Apologize for distressing them, and for going behind their back, and suggest a punishment for yourself - not for the tattoo, but for lying about it.

  4. my parents said that if i get a tattoo or dye my hair a crazy color, become goth, get in jail, get peircings without their permission (this is while im living in their house) i cant live with them idk if its a threat or not most likely they will follow through anyways to regain trust TELL THEM SOOOOOOON and then take the punishment they give u without asking questions do what they say
