How do i delete a shortcut?

i removed a program on my compaq hp laptop and now when i try to delete the desktop shortcut it wont let me because it cant locate the files...help?

right click on said short-cut , scroll down until you come to delete and click it.

Restart your computer in safe mode, click the shortcut and press shift+delete
