  1. Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) is integrated into the operating system so it should not be removed at all. It's possible to revert IE7 back to IE6 if you're using windows Xp but there's no point to it since IE6 is far less secure.

The key issue here is that you don't have to delete it at all. In fact you can use as many browsers as you want (even at the same time) and you can select which one you want to use as your default. To make Safari your default browser, open safari and go to preferences. The default browser option is the first on the list.

I've used Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ for years and it's literally the best out there by miles. It's every bit as fast as Safari and has add-on features that will blow your mind. For example, imagine viewing your picture or movie search results in google and youTube like this -

go to http://www.cooliris.com/ and click on guided tour

This is how it's done on Firefox 3 using the Piclens add-on.

I also use Opera as a secondary browser, especially when I'm using google or any other search engine http://www.opera.com/. I use Flock to manage my social networks in one place http://www.flock.com/ and i occasionally use safari when I'm posting in forums due to the built in ability to resize the text boxes. Since firefox is set as my default browser i import its bookmarks into all the other browsers so that i have access to the same links regardless of what I'm surfing with. Firefox also has an add-on called Foxmarks (http://www.foxmarks.com/), which automatically saves your bookmarks to an online account and synchronizes them with any other PCs you own that are also running Firefox.

  2. vista has a bit of a problem when identifying the administrator, so your best bet would be to kill your self

  3. Ok first you need to be an Administrator to be able to uninstall programs.

Here's what you do: (I'm assuming you have XP)

Go to Control Panel>User Accounts>Change an account>Select your account>Change account type to administrator>Click on change account type.

Now, when you uninstall Internet explorer (say if you have Internet Explorer 7, it doesn't completely remove it..but it reverts back to Internet Explorer 6) You could just leave it there, i personally use 2 browsers. Good luck.

  4. I would strongly recommend that you do not delete ie, unless you really, really know what you are doing. ie is attached firmly to the windows kernel, and removing it will make programs unstable. I know ie is a security risk, but unfortunately the risks outweigh the benefits

  5. You can't. Just leave it, it's part of the os. Just don't leave it open.

  6. Ah, the timeless question. And the answer is simple: you can't.

And you wouldn't want to if you could. All the windows you open such as My Computer, My Documents, C Drive, etc. all run on IE. So what you do is download Firefox, Safari, Oprah, or whatever you like best (I would personally recommend Firefox) and just delete the IE shortcuts from your desktop and startup menu.

  7. I don't think it's possible, but if it is it's probably not a good idea.

Internet explorer is also the application that runs your directories in "My Computer."

What would be a better idea is to designate Safari as your default browser.  I primarily use Firefox, but continue to have and occasionally run IE on my computer.  I wouldn't think of deleting it.
